WHICH WAGE ORDER APPLIES TO YOU?
February 12, 2020
They type of business determines the industry order. Each wage order regulates the wages, hours, and working conditions of a specific industry or occupation.
- Wage Order Numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 regulate industries.
- Wage Order Numbers 4, 14, 15, 16, and 17 regulate occupations
To determine which IWC Wage Order applies, the employee must first determine if the business is covered by an industry order (Wage Order Numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13). To determine which industry order applies, you must look at the main purpose of the business.
If the business does not fall under one of these industry wage orders, then the employee must look to the occupational order (Wage Order Numbers 4, 14, 15, 16, and 17)
